Pakistan’s Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, Bilal bin Saqib, met with Patrick Witt, who is an advisor on crypto for former President Trump, at the White House. They talked about working together on crypto and blockchain projects.
“I looked into how Pakistan can learn from the US to create new chances in the digital assets market,” said Saqib. He said it was a “great day for Pakistan in Washington. ”
A local report says the conversation was about finding ways to improve cooperation on cryptocurrency between the US and Pakistan. Also, both sides stressed how important it is to work together in new and creative ways.
Minister Saqib talked about Pakistan’s work in becoming a leader in cryptocurrency. He said that working together would improve relations between the two countries.
Also, Pakistan is working on plans to speed up new technology development, Saqib said.
Saqib met with a US official about cryptocurrency just a few days after he talked with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development and Innovation, Zhaslan Madiyev, at a meeting of the United Nations in New York.
“Maybe it’s time to release the first UN resolution on cryptocurrency,” he wrote on X, leading people to speculate.
Is the First UN Resolution on Bitcoin About to Happen.
At the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Bilal bin Saqib talked about how important AI, blockchain, and digital governance are for growing economies like Pakistan.
“It’s very important to help influence discussions about AI, blockchain, and digital governance, because the future of these technologies will be determined not just in Western countries, but also in the Global South,” he said.
He showed a Bitcoin sign at the UN and said it’s time for the world to think about the first UN Resolution on Bitcoin.
The General Assembly has made decisions about climate change, peace, and sustainable development, but it hasn’t discussed Bitcoin yet.
Pakistan is closely following the United States’ approach to cryptocurrency.
The Asian country is now ranked third on Chainalysis’ 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index. According to industry estimates, over 40 million people in Pakistan are using cryptocurrencies, which is close to the number of people participating in traditional finance.
Saqib said that many people use online tools to get money from abroad more quickly and cheaply. He said that this adoption was a “must-have,” not just a trend.
Pakistan has already said it will create a Bitcoin reserve. Saqib praised the US for helping Pakistan move forward with cryptocurrency. These Bitcoins are not for guessing their price.
